Troost MAX Construction Is Currently Underway

Last fall, KCATA along with federal and local dignitaries officially broke ground on the city’s second bus rapid transit line that will serve Troost Ave.

Construction has begun on Troost BRT north, Troost BRT south and Troost BRT miscellaneous locations. Access the schedule for each.

Construction for Troost MAX service includes new concrete bus pads, new curbs, ADA-compliant ramps and surface improvements at more than 40 MAX stations and bus stops. Each station will also have lit shelters and real-time bus information with predicted arrival times for the next MAX bus.

Thirty intersections will be upgraded with traffic signal priority (TSP) technology that will add time to a green light or shorten a red light when transit vehicles are behind schedule.

A major addition of this project is the City of Kansas City’s construction of a new Troost bridge over Brush Creek. The bridge will offer improved safety and transit access, as well as beautify the area.
