Posted on: Aug 26, 2013

COMMUNITY WORKSHOP FOR 3RD & GRAND TRANSPORTATION MULTIMODAL CENTER (Kansas City, Mo. – Aug. 26, 2013) The Kansas City Area Transportation Authority (KCATA) is hosting a community workshop for the 3rd & Grand Multimodal Transportation Plan from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 28, at 429 Walnut (corner of 5th and Walnut) in Kansas City’s River Market. Earlier this summer, citizens and transit officials met to discuss the possibilities for enhancing transportation connections at the 3rd & Grand location. The Aug. 28 meeting will provide an update on the progress of the project and collect more feedback. KCATA is working with the city of Kansas City, Mo., Jackson County, and Mid-America Regional Council to improve the transportation experience for pedestrians, cyclists, transit riders and motorists in the downtown area. The public is encouraged to share ideas about the future 3rd & Grand multimodal transportation facility that could incorporate bus, streetcar, commuter rail, bicycle and pedestrian amenities, as well as potential transit-oriented development at the community workshop on Aug. 28. The workshop will outline existing site conditions and on-going projects at and near 3rd & Grand. Possible concepts to improve the future multimodal transportation experience will be presented.
