Thriftway to Sell Monthly Passes

Thriftway Supermarket at Truman Road and Hardesty now sells Metro Monthly Bus Passes to the public beginning on Friday, April 25, 2008.

Customers served by Metro buses in northeast Kansas City have the convenience of purchasing $20 reduced fare passes with required ID, and $40 passes.

Thriftway will sell bus passes from the 25th of the current month to the 10th of the next month.

#471-71 Highway Express Reroutes for Bridge Construction

Effective April 15, until further notice, the following reroute will be in effect due to bridge construction:
Northbound #471 buses will travelthe regular route to 109th Terr. & Hillcrest, go west on 109th Terr., north on Hickman Mills Dr., east on 103rd St., and north on Hillcrest to resume the regular route.
Southbound buses will travel the reverse route.

State Avenue Corridor Public Meeting Notice

Following several months of study and analysis by Olsson Associates, in partnership with the Unified Government and the Kansas City Area Transportation Authority, a plan for improved transit has been determined for the State Avenue Corridor which extends from the downtown districts of Kansas City, Missouri and Kansas City, Kansas to Village West.

A public meeting will be held on Tuesday, April 15, 2008, from 4–5:30 p.m. at the Reardon Center, 500 Minnesota Ave., Kansas City, Kansas to inform the public about the proposed improvement and the process that resulted in its selection. Persons interested in learning about how transit can provide faster, more frequent service in the State Ave Corridor are encouraged to attend.

Monday’s home opener against the New York Yankees is a sellout. The Metro is ready to roll out Royals Express service for what will be an exciting home opener matchup and Royals Season. For only $6, you get roundtrip, fast service. No need to pay for parking or to burn pricey gasoline getting to and from the games.

Stops and Schedule

Fans can ride the Express to every home game at the “K.” Main pickup points are Waldo, Brookside, the Plaza, midtown, Crown Center and downtown. See route maps for the back of this bulletin.

The Express service includes stops from Metro Park-and-Ride lots and transit centers:

    Waldo (74th Terr. & Broadway, Gregory & Wornall)
    River Market (3rd & Grand)
    10th & Main Transit Center (Main St. stop)

Board the Express at Metro and MAX bus stops along the route and at stops that display a red “Stadium Express” sign. The first bus on each route will leave the first stops two hours before the game; the second bus on each route leaves the first stop one hour before the game. The first stop on the Waldo-Plaza route is 74th Terr. & Broadway; the first stop on the Downtown-Crown Center route is 3rd & Grand. However, during the opening series against New York, April 8-10, two additional buses will travel on the route. Schedules for the opening series are below.

$6 Fare and $6 Ticket Discount

The $6 round-trip fare not only gets you to the games, but also can be used to get you in to see all the action. The Kansas City Royals are offering Express customers a $6 discount on their game-ticket purchase. When you pay the $6 fare upon boarding, the driver will issue a $6 coupon. To receive the discount, turn in the coupon at the Royals Ticket Window. Offer excludes Opening Day, April 8, and the following series: New York Yankees, April 8-10, St. Louis Cardinals, June 27-29, and Boston Red Sox, August 4-6.

All express customers, regardless of age, will be charged the full $6 fare. Please have exact cash fare when boarding the Royals Express. Operators cannot make change.
