The KCATA is currently seeking customer oriented candidates who have a HS diploma/GED and at least 2 years of stable work history. Must have a valid Driver’s License, and an excellent driving record, which includes no more than 2 points within the past 5 years. Must be able to obtain a Class B Commercial Drivers’ License with Passenger/Airbrake Endorsements, and pass the required drug screen/pre-employment physical exam to receive DOT certificate. Must be at least 21 years of age and capable of learning how to operate a passenger vehicle. Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills are mandatory. This position requires prospective Operators to be available for a 6-week paid training course. The training schedule is non-negotiable.
Hourly pay rate of $14.49 per hour during training.

The KCATA is seeking a “Senior Buyer” to ensure competitive economical purchases by maintaining strong relationships with Kansas City Area Transportation Authority (KCATA) staff and vendors as a member of the organization’s Procurement Division. The Senior Buyer’s responsibilities will entail an all-encompassing range of tasks from conception to project closeout in respect to procurement services. Procurement activities will include an array of procurement related services including the purchase of materials, equipment and supplies.
A bachelor degree in Business Administration or related field from an accredited four year college and/or university. The Senior Buyer must have a minimum of three years’ experience in the procurement and/or related area with a successful record of growth and increased responsibilities. Preferred experience includes a construction background, an understanding of public purchasing, quick learner and detail oriented.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: The Senior Buyer must have general knowledge of purchasing methods, systems and controls. The Senior Buyer must be able to maintain contracts and procurement files related to Buyer’s procurements. The Senior Buyer must have excellent analytical, written and oral communication skills. The Senior Buyer must be computer literate including knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint). Experience with federal governmental procurement procedures a plus.

Senior Manager of Transportation
The Senior Manager of Transportation will oversee, manage, administer and be directly responsible for the operational functions of the Transportation Division under the direction of the Chief Operations Officer (COO). This employment opportunity requires a dynamic professional with exceptional interpersonal and leadership skills to add to the success of a growing and evolving transit organization. The Senior Manager of Transportation is responsible for building successful relationships with both internal and external business partners and stakeholders including the employees, transit patrons, the union and other divisional shareholders. The Senior Manager of Transportation will supervise, spearhead and coordinate the efforts of over our five hundred (500) dedicated professionals assigned to the transportation operational element of the organization. The Senior Transportation Manager will lead efforts in respect to fixed routes, MetroFlex on demand service and express service while developing, managing and implementing transit related programs, policies and procedures to ensure the delivery of effective and efficient daily public transportation services to our customers.
Minimum Qualifications: This position requires a BA/BS degree in Business, Public Administration, Transit Administration or a related field from an accredited four year college and/or university. A minimum of five (5) years’ experience in a senior level role involving transit and/or transportation related expertise is required. Prior supervisory experience specifically in the area of public transit management involving a decision making role in respect to fix route operations is desired.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: The Senior Manager of Transportation must have general knowledge of transit related operations. The Senior Manager of Transportation must possess strong leadership abilities and be capable of delegating to ensure predetermined standards, policies and procedures are being maintained as required. The Senior Manager of Transportation must possess the ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. The ability to clearly and thoroughly understand collective bargaining agreements and processes is essential.
