Metro Plans Regular Service For Wednesday

(Kansas City, Mo. – Feb. 26, 2013) 3:30 P.M. – The Kansas City Area Transportation Authority (ATA) plans to provide full weekday service on normal schedules on Wednesday, Feb. 27. ATA will announce reroutes or system-wide delays if they become necessary on Wednesday. ATA is operating reduced service through the rest of the evening on Tuesday, Feb. 26. Service was increased in the afternoon rush hour, help more people make their return trip home this afternoon. Customers are encouraged to check current information before traveling. The Call Center will open early tomorrow, at 5 a.m. Metro routes serving Kansas City, Kan., have been suspended for the day, effective at 1 p.m. In addition, Johnson County Transit and Unified Government Transit suspended all service today. Inde-Bus in Independence offered limited service beginning at 1 p.m.

(Kansas City, Mo. – Feb. 26, 2013) 1 P.M. – Due to improving road conditions, the Kansas City Area Transportation Authority (ATA) has announced it will provide additional bus service on the routes currently operating beginning at 3 p.m. today. The additional service will help more people make their return trip home this afternoon, although full service will not be restored until Wednesday. Customers are encouraged to check current information before traveling.

In addition, Johnson County Transit and Unified Government Transit suspended all service today and Inde-Bus in Independence has suspended service until further notice.

Share-A-Fare Customers Urged To Cancel Tuesday Trips
Due to the weather and conditions on side streets, Share-A-Fare paratransit participants may experience delays of two or more hours on Tuesday, Feb. 26. We are strongly encouraging all non-dialysis trips be cancelled. Share-A-Fare customers can cancel trips by calling (816) 842-9070.
Statement About Metro Service Suspension
On Thursday, Feb. 21, the City and KCATA made the drastic decision to suspend service, effective at 1 p.m. Thursday afternoon. This difficult decision was arrived at through conversations with the City Manager, the Mayor, the City’s Office of Emergency Management and KCATA. Service is scheduled to resume service in the morning of Friday, Feb. 22. Thank you to the customers who have shown us patience and to those who heeded warnings to stay home if possible. And we especially thank you for lending a hand to one another at bus stops and on board buses.
Storm Cleanup Continues
Although the snow has stopped falling, KCATA’s job is not done. Conditions on the street continue to improve and we are now focused on clearing snow and ice from bus stops and park-and-rides. The City will be clearing snow from city streets. Please use caution getting on and off buses. We expect treacherous conditions over the next several days.
